  • Judges' Comments: "This painting beautifully portrays a loving, soft embrace of the person with the animal. The texture of the fur is so palpable and expressively painted. The fur of the pet dipping outside of the circular shape of the painting is an unexpected touch that is a more unusual format for a painting. The colors are so rich and sumptuous, and the range of blues, browns and purples all layered on top of each other creates tremendous depth and texture."
